Matrix Awakens Live Graphics vs. Original Movie Scenes Comparison

YouTube’s “Cycu1” posted a video comparing the real-time graphics from The Matrix Awakens to the original movie scenes from The Matrix. This comparison shows how close this technical demo of Unreal Engine 5 is to reality.

As I said before, the 3D models of all the main characters in this tech demo are amazing. Plus, the lighting system is beyond anything we’ve seen. Not only that, but Nanite does an amazing job of minimizing pop-ups. In addition, there are amazing physical effects thanks to the UE5 Chaos physical system.

The fact that it’s almost impossible to tell which images are in real time and which are not in still images speaks volumes. The only way to tell the difference is to watch the animations. At the moment, the animations are not as polished as we would hope. As such, the lip syncing and movement of the characters feels a bit stiff and unnatural.

Nonetheless, this is the future of video game graphics, clear and simple. Now, it remains to be seen if actual games will look like this. After all, there is major performance on Xbox Series X and PS5.

Enjoy the comparison and stay tuned for more!
