A new year means a new chapter…. and your friends at the Manitowoc Public Library can’t wait to help you make 2022 an incredible part of your story! We have a host of entertaining and informative events and programs planned for the New Year, including our ‘Book & a Movie’ series, which we are delighted to relaunch after an absence of nearly two years.

In its previous incarnation, the “Book & a Movie” program was hugely popular among a dedicated group of participants – it’s an affordable “date” option, as well as a chance to reunite with family and friends. . We show a wide variety of films to a friendly and enthusiastic audience.

Here’s a quick look at how “Book and Film” works:

On the third Monday of the month films are shown – for free! – at the Lakeshore Cinema, 1118 Washington Street, Manitowoc. Show time is at 6:30 PM and the theater opens about half an hour before the start time. Refreshments are available for purchase. . . and again, remember there is no admission if you just want to sit down and watch a good movie!

The books the film is based on are available for checkout at the Manitowoc Public Library. Library staff are also bringing a stash of books for next month’s movie to the cinema and will check them out with interested patrons. Books from the film in progress can also be returned to MPL staff at the cinema.

If you would like to stay after the film is over to discuss the book and/or the film, you can do so. You don’t have to read the book or join in on the casual chat, so there’s no pressure to do more than just come and enjoy the cinematic experience. Did I mention watching the movie is absolutely free!?
