Boiling Point movie: Netflix movie plot, cast with Stephen Graham and Jason Flemyng, trailer and release date
Boiling Point is a feature length adaptation of a 2019 short film of the same name and directed by Philip Barantini
Boiling Point, directed by Philip Barantini, is a hyper-real drama set in the frenetic world of a boutique restaurant kitchen.
The relentless film is shot in one take and unfolds in real time in the most stressful work environments.
Boiling Point is an updated and expanded adaptation of the 2019 short film of the same name, also directed by Barantini.
What is the plot of Boiling Point?
The film follows chef Andy Jones, played by Stephen Graham, as he struggles to keep orders up and keep his cooks’ spirits up during the busiest day of the year.
Andy must deal with a line of frustrated and overworked cooks, overwhelmed new hires and a floor manager with very little management experience.
To increase the pressure, the man who lent Andy the money to set up the restaurant came over to offer his unsolicited advice, and he also brought a restaurant critic with him.
We are also brought into the world of waiters as they deal with arrogant poseur customers who order the most expensive wine on the menu but want their lamb cooked until gray.
A troupe of “influencers” who have a few thousand Instagram followers between them and a nervous boyfriend about to propose complete the chaotic scene and set the stage for 90 minutes of anxiety-inducing viewing.
Who is part of the cast of Boiling Point?
Stephen Graham as Andy Jones
Graham takes on the lead role, which he also played in 2019’s Boiling Point, playing the completely overwhelmed chef.
As Andy tries to keep a lid on the restaurant and making sporadic calls to his ex-wife and son, it looks like he could unravel.
Graham is a titan of British cinema, playing the role of Skinhead Combo in This is England and Tommy in Guy Ritchie’s Snatch.
His television roles include Time where he played a prison guard alongside Sean Bean, and the final season of Peaky Blinders.
Jason Flemyng as Alastair Skye
Skye is a bossy and relatively vindictive “buddy” of Andy. After loaning Andy £200,000 to start his restaurant, he now feels indebted to his endless thanks and loyalty.
Syke picks one of the busiest nights of the year to come to the restaurant with his critic and needlepoint date Andy and his cooking decisions.
Essentially, he’s an eminently smackable bastard.
Flemyng is also known for a role in Snatch, where he played the unlucky mobster Darren.
He played George Mayhew in the counterfactual historical drama SS-GB and Lord James Harwood in the DC origin series Pennyworth.
Vinette Robinson as Carly
Carly is arguably the movie’s hero, keeping the food coming as everything around her staff begins to implode.
She has no problem telling Andy, his manager, and the waiters what she thinks of their platitudes and pointless advice.
Robinson previously played Helen Hopewell in Waterloo Road and Sgt Sally Donovan in Sherlock opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
Beth is the beleaguered restaurant manager who just can’t get the staff to like her.
Going from one bad call to another, overbooking the venue, and blaming the chefs and waiters for his mistakes might have something to do with his annoyance.
Feetham played Lilly Rundle in DCI Banks and Bernie in Save Me, as well as the unnamed manager in the original Boiling Point short.
Where can I watch Boiling Point?
Boiling Point is available to watch on Netflix now.
