Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Die-hard comic book fans took to Twitter and started the trend of the #RecastTChalla movement. According to them, the absence of the main character in the film left a plot hole in the story.

The Black Panther superhero in the Marvel Universe was played by the late Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer two years ago. Disgruntled fans were angry that Boseman’s untimely passing was incorporated into the script for the sequel film.

Fans have argued that the comic book-based franchise is bigger than the actors’ personal lives and that the integrity of the story must be preserved.

In the heated trending debate, tweeps mentioned that Chadwick Boseman did such a great job playing the role of T’Challa, that it would be shocking to viewers if a new actor suddenly took over.

@EsOnEverything said:

“The MCU’s Black Panther is the first superhero to die more than once in a franchise and stay true. That’s an insulting 2.5 times. Halfway through Black Panther, Infinity War, and now Wakanda Forever. It’s really insulting.”

@justkiira posted:

“The MCU shouldn’t use Chadwick Boseman’s passing as a plot. A good marketing tactic is to relate to our emotions. The MCU benefits financially from our emotions because, for some of us, going to see the movie is also an opportunity for us to cry.”

“Casual MCU fans reacting to the #RecastTChalla movement only know the character from the movies and have never sat down and picked up a comic to read about the character and why so many comic book fans want to see T’Challa continue .”

@Jaded_Fanboy said:

“I’m now firmly on T’Challa’s recast side. Because I can’t take Shuri as Black Panther.”

“T’Challa kept a secret child. What kind of soap opera Young and the Restless bull jive is this.”

@DollyKay77 shared:

“I took Chadwick’s death hard. The fact that they killed T’challa the same way Chadwick died is disgusting. Honor someone by celebrating all their hard work and accomplishments. Don’t attach real dead in fictional stories that have nothing to do with the character. #RecastTChalla”
