2022 Capa Summer Film Series Schedule Announced

The CAPA Summer Film Series, America’s longest-running classic film series, today announced the schedule for its 53rd series of classic and cult films. The 2022 series will run from June 16 through August 14 at the historic Ohio Theater (39 E. State Street.) and presents 25 films over nine weeks. Highlights include 10 series premieres, a silent film with live musical accompaniment, Fright Nite Friday and two Saturday mornings of classic cartoons.

Now celebrating his 31st year as the featured organist of the CAPA summer film series, Clark Wilson will once again provide pre-show entertainment at the keys of Ohio Theater 30’s treasured “Mighty Morton” theater organ. minutes before each screening.

Fright Nite Friday with Fritz

Although Fritz the Nite Owl won’t be on hand for the screening, audiences can still return to the days of the Nite Owl Theater with a special Fright Nite Friday presentation of Halloween (1978) on Friday, July 15. Fans will be able to enjoy a full episode of Nite Owl Theater complete with era-appropriate retro commercials and Fritz’s signature breaks loaded with tastic antics and campy special effects.

Special Services

Some films will be audio-described for the visually impaired at no additional cost. Audio description allows customers to hear scene-by-scene narration of the on-screen action while listening to the film’s dialogue. Additionally, Listen Everywhere, an assisted listening app that patrons can download to their personal cell phone, is available at all screenings. When paired with the customer’s headphones or headphones, the app delivers high-quality audio streamed directly to the customer and can be adjusted for volume preferences.

One of Central Ohio’s best entertainment deals, CAPA Summer Movie 10-Series 10-Packs are available for purchase through Sunday, July 24. 10-ticket packs are $40, a savings of $2 per ticket off day-of-show prices. They can be purchased in person at the CBUSArts Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), online at www.capa.com, or by phone at (614) 469-0939. 10-pack tickets are good for any movie in any combination.

Individual tickets for individual movies are $6 ($5 for seniors) and go on sale Wednesday, June 1. Single tickets can be purchased in advance at the CBUSArts Ticket Center (39 E. State Street.), online at www.capa.comor by phone at (614) 469-0939.

Single tickets and 10-ticket packs can also be purchased on the day of the show in cash or by card starting one hour before showtime at the CBUSArts Ticket Center. (Last day for sale of 10-ticket packs is Sunday, July 24.)
